After a decade-long wait, Now You Don’t reunites the Horsemen for a new round of flashy heists and magical illusions — but this time, the magic feels like smoke and mirrors. Directed by Venom’s Ruben Fleischer, the film leans into absurd spectacle over story, with moments so over-the-top they make the original’s infamous twist look subtle.
Rosamund Pike steals the show as billionaire villain Veronica Vanderburg, a sharp-tongued addition who skewers both the Horsemen’s self-serious tricks and the movie’s glossy moralizing. Unfortunately, the rest of the cast — including Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson — are trapped in a swirl of CGI sleight-of-hand and clunky social commentary about class warfare and “anti-capitalist entertainers.”
With the new Gen-Z recruits joining the old guard, Now You Don’t feels like Fast & Furious with card tricks — high-budget, low-impact, and convinced it’s smarter than it is. For all its flash, this sequel misunderstands its own magic act.
