While in Nai Yang, Phuket, Thailand I found out about a cooking class offered at Black Ginger at The Slate Hotel. The place is a well-reviewed Michelin guide restaurant so I was quick to sign up for this class with so many confusing cooking classes on offer. We spent about an hour at the nearby Baan Kian fresh market picking out local ingredients and then a few hours back at the kitchen prepping and cooking. For about $100 USD, I got a private class including transportation, food, an apron, a certificate and recipe book.
