I stayed at the Hilton Mainz in November 2022 as I was working at a conference in the hotel. I stayed 5 nights on a special conference rate bed and breakfast, which cost 625 Euro.
The hotel is located next to the River Rhine around a 25 minute walk from Mainz Hauptbahnhof (main railway station). The hotel straddles both side of Rheinstraße, a busy main road, which runs along the Rhine. The hotel has a pedestrian bridge which connects both sides of the hotel.
Check-in was quick and efficient and I was fortunate enough to be upgraded to an executive room, which had views straight over the River Rhine. The staff on reception spoke perfect English and were extremely polite and friendly, customer service was excellent.
My room (1542) was on the fifth floor and was large and comfortable with a super-king-sized bed, mini bar, wardrobe, safe, chair, foot stool, coffee table, desk, flat screen TV, complimentary water, bedside plug sockets, desk chair and luggae rack.
The bathroom was white, bright and clean with a large sink area, mirror, toilet and a walk-in shower cubicle. The shower had two heads that could be used simultaneously and was superb, possibly the best shower that I've ever had in a hotel.
The hotel iteslf seems like a 1980s construction. The reception area is large and airy, with a mezzanine overlooking it. The bar on the ground floor is very small for the size of the hotel, but it has a nice outside terrace by the side of the River Rhine. The restaurant is also small and next to the bar. The breakfast buffet was decent, it wasn't hugely extensive but it did have a range of cooked and continental hot and cold options. The quality of the food was very good. The salmon was excellent.
There was no swimming pool at this hotel, but there was a small gym, it wasn't anything extensive but it had a range of machines and free weights. It also had complimentary bottled water.
The conference facilities were excellent, this hotel lends itself to conferences with the facilities that it has.
All of the staff that I encountered were very hard-working and friendly, I was very impressed by them all.
All in all, this is an excellent hotel and I would definitely stay here again in future.
