Welcome aboard Via Rail's iconic Canadian train on a flavourful food journey from Vancouver in the west to Toronto on the East and then from Toronto back to Vancouver. This food review showcases the freshly prepared, exquisite cuisine served in the dining car on the iconic Canadian Train. All of my meals were served at the first sitting. I am grateful to have shared this food journey with my travel companion, Jared.
Before we embark on this flavourful journey, I would like to acknowledge that the Canadian train operated by Via Rail travels on tracks owned by Canadian National Railway (CN) from Vancouver to Toronto, passing through vast distances of land that are the traditional territories of numerous First Nations. In British Columbia, these territories include the traditional lands of the Coast Salish, Nlaka'pamux, Secwepemc, St'at'imc, Syilx, Tsilhqot'in, and many others. As the train continues eastward, it crosses various territories in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario, such as the traditional lands of the Cree, Blackfoot Confederacy, Saulteaux, Métis, Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and others. We recognize and respect the enduring presence of these First Nations and their stewardship of these lands.
